NUBIAN DAIRY GOATS
Capra hircus Goats were one of the first animals domesticated by man and more goats milk is consumed worldwide than cows milk. Nubian goats are the largest of the dairy goat breeds and can be recognized by their long drooping ears and Roman noses. They originated from the breeding of Egyptian, African, and British goats. The nubian is to dairy goats as the Jersey is to dairy cows. They produce less milk than some of the other breeds, but it is higher in butterfat content. In our years of bottle raising baby animals we have found no better formula for most animals than goats milk. The baby animals that we have fed goats milk have not experienced any of the digestive upsets that can occur from feeding commercial milk replacers or cows milk. Human consumption of goats milk is becoming increasingly popular in this country due to it having a more easily digestible protein and fat content than cows milk. People who are allergic to cows milk may find that they can consume goats milk with no problems. Besides for drinking, goats milk can be used in cooking, baking, and cheese making (chevre). Goats are very popular among small homesteaders who don't have the space to keep a cow, but want to produce milk for their families. The PH of goats milk is very similar to the PH of our skin, making it a perfect ingredient for home made soaps. In addition to their milk production, Nubian goats also make very nice pets. Bottle raised goats remain friendly and love attention from their owners. All of our goats are ADGA registered Purebred Nubians.
